On Friday March 20, at approximately 2:40 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Front Street, West Nipissing. The OPP is reminding drivers that operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, including failing to comply with an ignition interlock condition, is a serious criminal offence. An ignition interlock device is installed to prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver has been consuming alcohol. Drivers who are required to use this device must ensure they fully comply with all conditions of their prohibition. Failure to do so can result in additional criminal charges, further driving prohibitions, and possible jail time.
