There is something truly magical about small gestures that bring a whole community together. Recently, a bright teal box popped up outside Ste-Marguerite d’Youville school, located at 73 Principale Street East in Verner, instantly capturing the imagination of local children and families. Operating on a simple and heartwarming premise – take a little treasure, leave a little treasure – this charming new addition is already spreading smiles across the small village.
The idea first caught the eye of local resident Anne Spencer online. Inspired by the concept, Anne and her family decided to bring it to life in their own community. The inspiration quickly blossomed into a hands-on family project. Using an old first-aid box from their garage, Anne and her children worked together to paint and transform it into the vibrant little treasure chest it is today.
“It started from an idea we saw online,” Anne shares when asked about how this little gem came to be. “We thought it would be fun, a good way to spread a little joy and do something that is fun for the community. You can go whenever, and you bring a trinket and take a trinket.”
