The local Legion grounds were filled with classic cars and people enjoying live music and a barbecue while they strolled around and chatted with enthusiastic owners eager to show off their shiny prized vehicles.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 225 in Sturgeon Falls held its 2nd annual car show on Saturday, August 15. The show attracted an estimated 110 cars and brought in some funds for the local Legion. According to Legion president Karen King, the show was a great success, and they intend to keep it coming back.
“Some cars came and went, but we estimate 110. It was 70 last year, so we grew by 40,” describes King. Not only were there more cars, but the event also featured live music, food, and merchandise sales, giving attendees more to do overall. King says that feedback has already started coming in to make next year’s show even better. “I would say that having an ice cream truck is a big one!” Another big ask is for a people’s choice prize, where attendees can get more involved in the show by casting their votes for their favourite car at the event.
