Student serves up delicious new food blog

There’s a new food blog in town and the photos are enough to make your mouth water and your stomach rumble. 

For Sturgeon Falls resident Alyssa Lafantaisie, 21, baking is a passion. Last month, with the pandemic in full swing, the fourth year kinesiology student at the University of Waterloo finally had some time on her hands to turn her passion into something concrete. She created Ally’s Kitchen Passion (allyskitchenpassion.com), a blog in which she shares some of her favourite tasty concoctions, as well as some old-fashioned family recipes. 

Growing up in Sturgeon Falls, the Franco-Cité graduate says quality family time was often spent in the kitchen. “I started baking and cooking when I was younger with my grandparents mostly. They would let me go loose in their kitchen; sometimes it would be a mess, but here we are.” 

With kinesiology being a branch of healthcare, and sweet treats often seen as unhealthy, some may think her two interests are imcompatible. However, Lafantaisie says the two can be reconciled, as enjoying good food in moderation along with physical activity are all part of a healthy lifestyle.
