Families gather in Verner for annual ‘fun day’

When local residents think of Barn + Bliss Weddings & Events, images of beautiful rustic romance, elegant barnyard receptions, or perhaps their famously sold-out Halloween parties instantly come to mind. Nestled just 15 minutes outside of Sturgeon Falls at 150 Eugene Road, the venue has solidified its reputation as a premiere backdrop for life’s milestone moments.

On Saturday, June 27th, the romantic strings were swapped for giggles, gasps, and the rhythmic thumping of bouncy castles. For their 3rd annual Family Fun Day, owners Kyle and Kait Carneiro opened their gates to host families looking to celebrate the start of summer.

Under a picture-perfect, cloudless blue sky, a long line of cars stretched down the country road as far as the eye could see. Yet, despite the less-than-ideal parking reality of a bustling rural festival, a palpable sense of neighborly caution and warmth filled the air. Drivers moved at a crawl, fully aware that the gravel edges were alive with the excitement of small children and eager families heading toward the entrance.

Passing the lush cedar bushes along the front path, visitors were greeted with big smiles by local volunteers before paying the $10 admission fee. Once inside, the grounds were beautifully laid out to give families plenty of room to explore. The iconic main barn, usually reserved for sweet vows and first dances, featured a reptile show from 11:00 am to noon. It was a full house. Eager toddlers and older children packed the front rows, absolutely captivated, trying to get a closer look at each scaly guest presented.
