The local Filles d’Isabelle (Daughters of Isabella) charity group runs the used goods store on King Street in Sturgeon Falls, turning the proceeds into donations for various community causes. Recently, the group was able to present a $1,500 cheque to Victoria Quilts Canada’s West Nipissing branch, a group of local volunteers who craft comforting handmade quilts for cancer patients. “Their generosity will help us buy materials and supplies needed to make more quilts for individuals living with cancer,” says Suzanne Davidson-Noël of Victoria Quilts. She is shown accepting the donation from Filles d’Isabelle member Berthe Hébert, who holds up an antique quilt that belonged to her own grandmother.
