Impaired driver arrested in stolen vehicle
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving offences after a report of a stolen vehicle. On Tuesday January 20, at approximately 9:45 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from Nipissing Street. The vehicle in question was later involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Verner. No injuries were reported, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Nathan Boulard, age 36, from Garson was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol; driving a motor vehicle with no plates; take a motor vehicle without consent; and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The accused was held for bail court, then released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 1 in North Bay. He was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Novice driver charged with impaired
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a novice driver with impaired driving offences after investigating a motor vehicle in a ditch. On Friday January 16, at approximately 1:20 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Kirkpatrick Road, West Nipissing. The novice driver sustained minor injuries and was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the local hospital. The investigation found the driver to be impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.
Jeremy Leavens-Goulais, 22 years-of-age, from Warren was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol; being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero; and failing to properly wear a seat belt. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 5, in North Bay. The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
