Santa Claus made a visit to Field on Saturday evening, December 4th, to join the Field Fire Fighters Christmas Parade. Organizer Denis Labelle said that families in both the upper-town and lower-town of Field enjoyed the small parade of floats, coming out of their homes to greet them as they drove past.
This is the second year the parade has operated under COVID conditions, and everyone was bubbling with enthusiasm, happy to have Santa visit. The Field volunteer fire fighters have been hosting Christmas events for well over 20 years, but had to adapt to pandemic conditions, escorting Santa throughout the 2 villages. There were 9 floats, including 2 fire trucks and one EMS van.
“It was a great success,” said Labelle. “There were more people out this year, especially on Larocque Street, and hearts were touched. Santa Claus, and the Fire Department wish everyone Joyeux Noël! Happy Christmas! And thank you to all the volunteers who make this parade possible!”
